March 2008This was the first "Tartan of the Month" and records Robert Boyd being installed as Chieftain for year 2008/09. There are thousands of designs in the registry of Scottish Tartans. While tartan is traditionally associated with the ancient clans of Scotland, many 20th century designs are associated with places and institutions. Many States of the United States have official tartans, as well as Universities, Football Teams, Pipe Bands and branches of the Armed Services. There's a tartan for everybody - no matter your ethnicity or family name. Here are some tartans which are associated with members of the Society: United States of America The official National tartan. Texas Bluebonnet This is the official artan of the lone star state. MacLeod of Assynt The H&TS web site was designed by Derek MacLeod.
And the program chair of the H&TS is Gordon Macleod.Largs & District Webmaster Robin Mills was born in the town of Largs in Ayrshire. This tartan was designed by Syd Samuels who's an e-Friend of Robin's and shares a birthday on January 18. Syd lives in Glasgow, Scotland. Robin and Syd frequently have a blether (conversation) on the web cam. Irene Boyd - wife of Chieftain Robert was brought up in Largs. State of California Webmaster Robin Mills lives in California.
The tartan design is a variation from Muir.
